Bhopal: A Continuing Tragedy >> Home

Biggest Industrial Disaster EVER!

Another Chernobyl?

Why are so many people dying? Why are so many babies deformed?

On December 2nd and 3rd of 1984, twenty-seven tons of methyl isocyanate, a deadly substance, was leaked at a Union Carbide factory in Bhopal, India. Overnight 410 people died, 8,000 people were hurt from frenzied crowds trying to escape the gas, and 4,000 were admitted into the hospital. The gas caused symptoms in people such as stinging eyes, loss of energy, weaker limbs, and loss of vision. However, that's not all. The gas contaminated the water supply of Bhopal causing people who came into contact with that water to not only gain the symptoms of the the victims who came into contact with gas, but to have babies that were deformed, or  mentally or physically disabled.

Now in the twenty-first century, Bhopal is still in dire need of help. Although the tragedy occurred more than twenty years ago, it is still an important issue to address, as over a million people are affected by it, and so many lives have been destroyed by it. The purpose of this site is to raise awareness about the continuing tragic situation in Bhopal by providing information from both primary and secondary sources, and to inspire people to contribute in anyway possible.
