Bhopal: A Continuing Tragedy >> About Us |
|
Our team lives hours away from each other, so it was almost impossible for us to be able to meet. Even if it was possible, we were all busy with individual schedules, and commitments. So, we didn't work on the website together like the ideal situation would've allowed us to, but we planned online, chatted on instant-messaging programs, and staged inter-computer meetings. We would be on the phone, calling to talk and help each other out, giving one another suggestions, collaborating, and discussing. When we weren't on the phone, or on instant-messaging our way of communication was email. We would email each other web pages, graphics, text, and whatever we needed. Even though it was hard that we couldn't see each other, we managed to get work done! It was very inspiring to see other websites, and we hope that we can match our skill levels up with them.
Team Members!- Team A.S.K.A. (Team Alka.Shouvik.Koushik.Abha.)
I'm fourteen years old, and I live near Los Angeles, USA. As the co-team leader, I have discovered a lot about website design, teamwork, and compromise. It has been very enlightening finding out about the processes going into making a website, and I really had a lot of fun & educational moments involved with it. In contributing to the website, implemented the search box, helped write some of the css, designed the basic the layout and its main structure (mostly on paper), wrote some of the substance on the website, wrote the music to the slideshow, edited all writing, looked for plagiarism, helped Abha take the interviews, and was the main photographer behind all the pictures that were taken by Team A.S.K.A on the website (Abha took the rest). Like everyone else, I also found quotes, helped to find bugs in our website and fix them, and staged & planned meetings. My hobbies include reading, biking, going to school, spending time with my friends, playing soccer, window shopping, playing and listening to music, climbing trees, watching TV, and writing.
Many, many people! First of all, we would like to thank all of our parents, who not only didn't get bothered by our long phone calls, and constant computer usage, but supported us the whole way! Also, thanks for taking us to Bhopal, it was a very eye-opening experience. Animesh, you were so helpful in teaching us the basics of cascading style sheets, and helping us when we didn't know what certain html meant. We couldn't have done it without our coach either. Ms. Ware, you were very helpful, and your critique got us far. All the people who let us interview them. Especially thanks to the Sambhavna Trust Clinic, as they ferried us around, let us take pictures, and showed us people to interview. Without your clinic, there would have been almost no base for this website! All the websites who let us use their free software! They really jazzed up our website, its quality, and its enjoyability. (see Bibliography) All the foundations who let us use their pictures. They were very great, and touching, and it really surprised us to see how many people wanted to help us out. Once again, see our Bibliography. Lastly, thank you ThinkQuest, for providing a means through which we could help out all those people, those survivors in Bhopal. We hope that we can make a difference.
