Man & Woman - The Age Old Struggle

Warren Farrell

Dr Warren Farrell (1943- ) used to be one who championed feminism, serving under the National Organization for Women. He later altered his views drastically, subsequently championing the cause of men. Therefore, he was asked to leave the board of NOW, due to the clash of his personal and the organisation's interests.

He felt that there has indeed been a dramatic reversal of roles between men and women. As he mentions, "The women's movement had done a wonderful job of freeing women from sex roles, but no one did the same for men." He feels that the "liberation" of women has been excessively propagated and that men have now in turn become objects of sexism on the part of the females.

Nonetheless, he feels that an ideal social order is that of a world of gender equality and also a reduction of traditional gender roles. He wrote many books regarding the oppression of males, some including Why men are the way they Are: The Male-Female Dynamic and The Male Power.

Farrell made a critical examination with regards to the power imbalance between the sexes and felt that it heavily favors women.
