INTRODUCTION:

A piece of land which is raised from the surroundings but has a flat surface above is called a plateau. Its top is like a table that is why it is called Tableland.

In india it is divided by the Narmada river into two parts :

A. The Central Highland

B. The Daccan Plateau.

The states, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand come under Central Highland.

The southern states , Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh , Orissa , Karnataka , kerala come under the Daccan plateau.
