Festivals and fairs :- Maharashtra,Karnataka and Aandhra Pradesh people celebrate many festivals. These festivals are deeply rooted in mythology and old cultural traditions. These festivals are celebrated with great Zeal and enthusiasam.Some of these festivals are:

1.Lumbini Festival:-Lumbini festival of Andhra Pradesh is organized from the 2nd Friday to Sunday of December every year at Hyderabad and Nagarjunasagar to highlight the teacings of Buddhism.


2.Pongal Festival :- This is a harvest festival, which has different attractions for different people. This is the festival of peasants. It is celebrated when the sun passes from Sagittarius to Capricorn & the transition is called Makara Sankranthi.

3.Yugadi:-According to the Kannada tradition Yugadi is considered as the New Year's Day .It falls on the late March or early April .

4.Gudhi Padwa:-In Maharashtra it symbolizes the beginning of a New year.It is a victory symbol-characterized by a bamboo stick with a coloured silk cloth.

1.Lavni:-Lavani is a traditional dance of Maharashtra It is performed to the enchanting beats of 'Dholak', an drum like instrument. It is performed by attractive women wearing nine-yard saris.

2.Koli:-Koli is the famous dance of Kolies fisher from the Maharashtra .This dance is performed by both men and women.

3. Yakshagana:-Yakshagana is a dance drama performed in the Karnataka. This dance drama is a perfect blend of dance, music and songs.

4.Kuchipudi:-Kuchipudi is one of the art forms of the Andhra pradesh . It presents scenes from Hindu Epics and mythological tales through dance-dramas .

Tamil,Malyalam,Marathi,Telugu and Urdu are the main languages spoken in the Daccan Plateau.

Women wear saree, gents wear Lungi and shirt.Women also wear Kurtee, Burqha and Salwar Kameez.
