Hello again here as I said we will talk about Remote controles space probes. What is it? These probes are vehicles which someone controls the same way you would control a model airplane or a mini car. These generally have lots of cameras to show the driver where he is going.
Where are most remote contoled probes used? Most remote Controlled probes have been on the moon for reasons I will tell you later.
In this picture you see a Rover and no, it is not the name of a dog, exploring the surface of the moon. On the Rover (It is the part of the probe that seperates and goes around on the planet's surface) there is an antenna to transmit signals to earth (top right corner) and that black thing on one of its sides is a drill for collecting rock samples. The wheels are big and round (hopefully!) and are just the rims to save on weight.
Pros and cons for R. C. (Remote Control)
Pros: You have direct control, You can change the plan of action, You can give specific instuctions.
Cons: Dependent on the signal-Time delay eg.on Saturn the time for a signal to get to earth and back to Saturn is about forty-eight minutes.
As you can see Strictly Remote controled probes only make sense for close targets like the moon and maybe Mars or Venus but for further plantes R.C. just does not make scense.
We hope that you have fun and leared a lot about remote controled probes in this section and found this info useful
