Execution of the project
The entire teaching-learning experiences were evolved around the
Questioning strategies based on various Taxonomies of thinking:
Blooms Taxonomy:
KNOWLEDGE Define, recall, recognize, remember
APPLICATION Classify, use, choose, solve
ANALYSIS Identify causes, draw conclusions, determine evidence
SYNTHESIS : Predict, produce, design, develop
EVALUATION : Judge, argue, decide, assess.
“ Older order changeth, yielding place to the new “. So too, in the domain of education, old methods of teaching have become outdated, say even obsolete due to practical approach of the subject.
Project Based Learning help to imbibe the knowledge thoroughly,
where as the Conventional methods of learning encourages only rote
memorization.
Bearing this in mind the investigator took up the topic life skill related
With mathematics in correlation with Project based learning.
Life skills in maths has given us a new platform to reach the young minds and mine their the potential and extraordinary way of thinking. It is a practical Approach in which each topic is related to expected life skill to be developed by the child and correlated it in day-to-day life activities .
The investigator decided to deliever the children expected life skill
Through each chapter without mentioning about the life skill which
is higher to their level of thinking. Understanding Basic concept, formation of numbers, computing ability, problem solving which should be applicable in the real-life time situation.
Even an uneducated Milk woman or Provision store or Vegetable
Vendor is able to calculate the rate with in fraction of second accurately than a mathematical scholar. The investigator doesn’t expect
her students to be mathematical scholar but a student with skills in
Problem solving tactfully.
So came the idea of Popular belief that instead of giving a fish to eat, teach him the Skill of fishing which is apt in this situation.
The syllabus in class IV Mathematics which is highly correlated with day-to-day life activities was planned and allotted what is the
expected life skill to be developed.

Facilitator took the Project Based Learning as a tool which has the Mantra “LEARNING BY DOING” to make her project
“LIFE SKILL IN MATHEMATICS” to grand success. So she selected
7 children and the remaining 41 children were distributed among these leaders. A work plan was framed to show how the project should proceed with fixed time allotment in order to close the project by
Feb 8th 2008. These 7 children had been on a survey, after end of chapter and gave a presentation on what they learnt, how it helped them in implementing the same in their day-to-day life activities and skills they achieved. The team member was guided and the facilitator evaluated the whole class through quiz, on-line testing using the web through www.think.com . Group leaders were asked to arrange activities related to the topic:
Like Mock vegetable shop, sweet shop, junk seller shop etc., to have hands on experience. Bearing this in mind that The children‘s life at school must be linked to their life outside the school. This principle marks a departure from the legacy of bookish learning which continues to shape our system and causes a gap between the school, home and community.
