In India, the family is the traditional social institution where the elderly persons enjoy love, respect, affection besides food, clothing and values governing human relation.

Joint Family includes parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews living together in the same household.  The members eat the food cooked in one hearth, share a common income, common property and worship the same idols.  The family supports the ‘Golden citizens’; takes care of widows and the disabled.  They treat their Global citizens with enormous respect and dignity.  They live together.  Grandparents are those who fill our childhood with joy and make growing up fun.  Respect for one  another and respect for the ‘Golden Citizens’ is a major component in Indian Culture.

Indians join their hands together at the chest level and say “Namaste or Namaskar.”  This joining of hands symbolizes the meeting of two souls and it signifies reverent salutations and unity of souls.

The youngsters in India show respect to the Golden Citizens’ by prostrating themselves before the ‘Golden Citizens’. The Golden Citizens bless the youngsters by touching the head of the youngsters.
