Glorious Past of China
Confucius, the famous Chinese philosopher advocated the principle of showing ‘Respect to the Golden Citizens’ in China and the Chinese families follow these ancient principles honestly. Family bonding is considered sacred in china and ‘care giving’ is a natural phenomenon in the Chinese culture. In Chinese families, parents move in with their children when the children get married. The parents help raise the children’s children and when the parents themselves require security and moral support, the children are prepared to provide love affection, security and moral support to their parents. Chinese consider that it is their privilege to become caregivers to their parents and they introduce their ageing parents into their homes. They show their children the value of respecting those who gave them life. The children learn the life skills from the wisdom and the rich worldly experience of the ‘Golden Citizens’. Filial Piety (duty) is manifested by respect and even reverence for parents |
