Communism is a governing and economic system based on equality. While its principles may seem to be desirable and logical, it has gained much criticism for not living up to its beliefs. The former communist Soviet Union turned this vision of equality into a justification for mass murder and other abominable acts. Communism also was an excuse for economic disaster resulting from the State taking ownership of all private property and running all establishments.
China also used Communism as a way for justifing Mao Zedongs ideas for the future. He claimed it was for the good of the people, but he really was trying to gain a position of power. One of his ideas that did not succeed was trying to get rid of old farming techniques. Without farming, the people of China could not get food, and scores of citizens died. These and other tragedies were what caused the world to shun Communism.
