China's Appetite for Energy

China's huge appetite for energy not only affects that country, but it affects everyone on earth. Traditional coal is being consumed in large quantities in China. As with many things, what goes in must come out. In this scenario, the result of coal consumption is pollution. CO² and nitrogen oxides released from coal contribute to global warming.

Our website explores this topic and explains three of the alternative energy sources China is using in place of coal. These three options are wind energy, hydroelectricity, and solar energy. You can help Earth's crisis by simply learning, absorbing and becoming aware of how everyday activities affect the globe.

Head Start

COAL
The most used energy source in China is coal which takes up 70% of energy consumption. Burning the coal has generated the majority of the pollution that has caused so many problems...Coal is a nonrenewable energy source...

WIND ENERGY
China, with its growing population consumes a vast amount of energy. Traditional coal is still used today and pollutes the air, which is why China needs to find alternative, renewable sources of energy. Wind power is a good option...Wind power is a renewable, natural, and clean energy source that can be converted for use by wind turbines.

SOLAR ENERGY
China has a growing problem of finding energy sources that can cover their needs as coal is slowly disappearing. Solar energy can help...What many people think is the definition of solar power, is actually very different from what solar power truly is.
