Energy Recovery Plants

Energy recovery plants are plants that help manage the waste the industrial world produces daily. They burn about 101, 000 tons of waste (just 15%!) nationwide each day, generating enough electricity to power 1.2 buildings, enough to replace 30 million barrels of oil every year, and dispose of materials for over 40 million people.

Co-firing

Co-firing is the process of burning gas (for chemical energy) with another fuel to help cut down on pollutants. The process for chemical energy, or energy that is released through a chemical reaction (usually through combustion), is considered to be harmful to the environment.

In China

China's Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) is helping with many projects in China. Their mission is to "Prevent and control environmental pollution, protect nature and ecology, supervise nuclear safety, safeguard public health and environmental safety, and promote the harmony between man and nature." Their website summarizes the many plans they have for China, as well as laws & regulations, and even a game to encourage kids!
