Education

Education is a very sensitive issue in our township and most of the children who live in our area do not go to school. The most popular thing for young people to get involved in our township is GANGSTERISM, and if you do not go to school it is very likely you will end up joining a gang. Many young adults even end up robbing people they grew up with, like neighbors who cared for them. As a result, young people end up in jail causing them to lose touch with their real friends that actually cared for them. While in jail, they also lose their new “gangster” friends, which shows that their friendship was never true. Becoming a gangster affects the entire family. Many times little brothers follow in the footsteps of their older gangster brothers leading to a continuing cycle of young township men ending up in jail or dead.

However, sometimes young men are motivated to change their lifestyle. These motivations could be fueled by going to church every Sunday or getting a proper job to support the family. Gangsterism affects us even in our schools. Gangsters come to school and look for their enemies and when they find them they stab or even shoot each other. Killing even happens at school in front of other learners who end up having to watch such a terrible thing. Many learners end up going to counseling because of these traumatizing experiences. These are the circumstances that we live under in our township.
