With the numerous dangers facing whooping cranes, such as disappearing farmlands, power cords, and the occasional hunter, they will soon become extinct without aide and protection. Luckily, there are people and organizations willing to help. These organizations include the International Crane Foundation, the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, and the Calgary Zoo. They provide homes and food for whooping cranes in an attempt to increase their numbers. They breed them and try to introduce them into the wild.
There are sponsors, who give money to organizations so they can do more to aid whooping cranes, volunteers that help these organizations by supplying materials or helping build things. Anyone could do this, including us. Some specific things would be to build birdhouses or raise money to give to one of the organizations that help whooping cranes. It might not be much, but it would be something. If enough people did something small, it would make a big difference.
