Each member took on the task of personally researching one mode of fashion. We then divided our team into a design group and an information group. The design group took on the challenge of drawing and coloring the majority of our images in order to avoid copyright issues. Also, they began the basic layout of the website.
The original plan was for each member to type a page on his or her selected field. However, as time began to dwindle, the information group decided to type the other members’ pages with the help and insight of those members. This included typing the introduction to the website, this page, and all the fashion genre pages. This allowed time for the design team to create banners, images, and page designs ultimately enhancing the entire site.As we worked, our unique backgrounds became inspiration for our topics. For instance, Tres' multi-ethnical background inspired her to want to research more on international styles of fashion. Cinco's typical American life gave him an interest to really understand the Urban fashion style which has evolved from American Metropolises. Uno's scholarly determination led to many hours worth of research on Couture fashion. The artistic genius of Dos and took to drawing all of our pictures while Cuatro’s computer skills came in handy when designing the layout of the page. We were all needed to pull this site together and each of us has done a great amount of work to make it happen.
Diversity is a topic we didn’t think we had. However, after we began thinking about it, we realized we actually did. In fact, we are naturally a diverse group of people because of the lifestyle we live. We are a group of both young men and women military children living in Germany; however, all five of us came from other parts of the world. One of us comes from Maryland, two come from Texas, one comes from Virginia, and one of us has lived in Germany for the majority of their life. Also, we all have different ethnic backgrounds. Our team consists of two Northern European mixtures, a Panamanian, a Greek/ Filipino, and one member who has a multitude of ethnicities: Mexican, Puerto Rican, and European to name a few. But we are all Americans.
Being over here in Europe we’ve had the chance to visit many places. France, Italy, Greece are a few of them. In fact Daphne’s grandparents solely speak Greek causing her to pick up the language and speak it regularly. Spanish, French, and German are also other languages that have influenced us.
We feel that being in a place where the military throws us all together creates a unique blend of ideas. For instance, we are all artists to some degree; however, each of us has different talents. That is why we decided to pick fashion. Granted, some of us had to be persuaded, but after that happened we were all onboard, solely out of the interest that fashion has become the most popular art form around. Everyone wears clothes, right?
