Emoticons
Eventually, people became tired of the original smiley face and
wanted something new. In 1982, the Computer Science Community made a
breakthrough...emoticons. These expression-showing faces are a new way
to declare what you are feeling without being face-to-face with the
person. Emoticons can normally be found on the screens of IM
messengers, computer screens, and cell phones (while texting, of
course). An example of some of these sideways expressions are:
:-) :-( :-* >:-( :-P :-D ;-)
These of course mean the obvious (from left to right)
happy, sad, kiss, angry, silly, absolutely ecstatic, and wink.
This new realm of awesomeness caught on and
people created more elaborate versions of the smiley face, some of them
even move. An example of these moving creatures are:
Everyone enjoyed these interesting phenomenons, and the riot
quickly spread across the nation. You see, emoticons are an
important part of our everyday lives.
Think where we would be without emoticons. If they never
existed, there would always be a lingering question...what is the
meaning of life?
