Fenrir Wolf

Fenrir wolf, Is a huge wolf in Norse mythology. Fenrir wolf is the son of the Giant-God Loki. Fenrir wolf also has two chidren Hati and Skoll. Hati "chases" the moon and Skoll " chases" horses. At the begining however, Fenrir was raised among the Esir by Odin. They tried to bind him using iron chains, knowing the wolf would cause mass destruction from words said in the prophicies. The first two attempts to bind the beast were iron chains doubling in strength each time. Fenrir broke them with ease, so Odin had the dwarves forge a chain called Gliepnir, it appeared thin and weak but it was made of six wonderous ingriedents, the sound of a cats footfall, the beard of a woman, the roots of a mountain, bear's sinews, fish's breath, and a bird's spittle. Noticing the thinness of the chain Fenrir suspected a trick. He agreed to try to break the chain only if one of the gods was willing to put his hand in his mouth as a pledge if he couldn't break the chain to let him free. Tyr was the only god brave enough to do this. Fenrir thrashed and thrashed but couldn't break the chain. When the gods would not let him free, he bit Tyr's hand off. In the prophcies though it says he will break free of the thin chain and join the forces of evil to kill Odin.
