3D Illusion Techniques

First of all you must accept 3D as the biggest illusion in the history of cinema. The fact that you can see objects coming towards you is scary, even scarier when it's about a horror movie. So we decided to demonstrate how to make your own low-budget 3D movie.

3D-Filming:

To film and view 3D properly you will need the following:

  • Two cameras

  • Pinnacle Studio 9 or higher

  • Special glasses (pretty much one cyan and one red transparent Kodak Wratten filter {buy those in a photographers shop} or the typical glasses you can buy directly from the Internet: just Google "buy 3D glasses"

How to film

First of all get a second camera. Now, mount the two cameras on a bracket, spaced a bit, with an angle, and make them both take pictures at the same time. Don't forget to mark which one is the right one and which one is the left one, we will need that later on.

How to edit

Now take both the files and load them on the studio.

Keep in mind the right eye/right footage MUST be cyan tinted and the left eye/left footage MUST be red tinted

Use the Tint effect found in the RTFX Vol. 1 Collection

Repeat and use cyan and light blue on the RIGHT eye footage.

Now you must use picture-in-picture technology to play both angles on top of each other.

As you can see both have a little symbol on their down-left corner. That's the tint effect.

Now we have to place them exactly on top of each other and set the top layers transparency to 50% as shown. Doesn't matter which one is one on top.

In the end your video should look something like this.

Go ahead. Try 'em on!We do not guarantee that our method works
