Acting can't be taught.
Certain tips is just what we can give.
Just follow them and
along with some experience of your own, you
will be calling yourself professional in no
time! We've been acting/directing/writing
for quite some time. The tips we give are
the most common mistakes we make.
NEVER look at the
camera, it's not there. Even a glimpse
can ruin a whole take. A movie is like
real life, with a spectator. If you look at
the camera you make it look fake, in real
life you don't look at random places do you?
So keep your eyes on your fellow actor. If
you do it by mistake and the director tells
you to take it from the top, don't get mad,
you will thank him when you see how bad it
looks.
Do what your
director tells you. Everybody has a job. You are not doing
the thinking, he is. You are in charge
of the acting. Your job is to make people
believe you're an astronaut, a farmer, a
person you're not. His job is to see the
movie before it's shot. Help him keep his
focus by not making complaints and doing as
he says.
Try to identify
with everyday situations and act like
real life. As I said before a movie is
situations from real life seen from the
"third eye" of the camera. So try to
identify with your character and act as you
would if any of that things happened to you.
That way your playing will look more
natural.
When you need to
show emotion, think about something that
makes you feel that way. If for example
you need to show anger, think about
something that really makes you angry and
try to react accordingly to that emotion.
When you are in the
verge of laughing and try not to, you make a
silly face trying to swallow the laugh. That
looks awful on camera, so when someone in
the scene makes you laugh, stop the
take, laugh it out and take it from the
top. It's way better than having that
silly look on your face.
Try to imitate how
others have acted in similar scenes.
Learning from the best never hurt anyone.
This article is small because acting just can't
be taught. You have to have at least a bit
of it in you, we gave you a head start with
some techniques. But that doesn't mean you
can't get better in time.
Do
your best,
