Another of the world’s weirdest and sensitive amphibian is named the Olm.  This strange animal can be found in caves in Bosnia, Herzegovina, Croatia and, Slovenia (olm 1). This is Europe’s only cave adapted vertebrate (1).  The olm is completely white but not albino. If it was put in sun light it would change color from white to black or brown (1). The olm is estimated to live between 58 to 100 years. It is also known to survive without food for over 10 years.  The olm is also blind this caused by the reduced light it receives in the darkened caves in where it lives. The olm uses elector-sensitivity and a huge sense of smell. Elector-sensitivity is used by the Olm to detect the electrical current that runs through it pry.
