Mexican Lungless Salamander

The lung less salamander falls into its own category with the animal world. Even though it has salamander in its name it has no known relative. Even comparing it to any other amphibian it would be like comparing a cow with frog. The reason that the salamander has been given this name is because it does not have any lungs instead it breaths through its skin and tissue in its mouth (Mexican Lungless Salamander 1).  The salamander can be found in Mexico and other part of Central America. Just like some lizards it can sever it own tail as a form of defense against predators.  The Mexican Lungless Salamander is so endanger that they have made up one fifth of the EDGE conservation project list (1). One of the reasons that researchers think that might be affecting the population of the Lungless salamander over the past couple of year is the out brake of fungal diseases.
