One of the world’s biggest and most endangered amphibian is the Chinese Giant Salamander. This salamander’s average length is 1.8 meters and is known to grow up to 3 meter (Chinese Giant Salamander 1). This salamander is also known to live over 50 years. It is found in some of china’s fast moving water ways like the Yangtze, Pearl and, Yellow Rivers. The salamander prefers these fast moving waters for hunting and mating. They are well known for eating anything that comes they’re way. It is not uncommon to find plastic and other house hold items in the dead salamander stomach. This is only one of many dangers that the salamander faces on its way to complete extinction. Its population has drop 80% since the 1960’s (Chinese Giant Salamander 1). This due to the pollution of the waters in where the salamander is found, damming of the rivers where it lives and, local poaching for medicine.
