Pong first appeared in a gas station.After the success of Pong, Atari started using ROM chips to save graphic data.Having the ROM chips, it enabled the video game manufacturers to design graphics that were more noticeable objects, unlike Pong that had simple blocks.ROM was a big hit, Between 1971 and 1973, thirty video games were produced for arcades by eleven different manufactures.In1974, Kee games released 'tank', which became the biggest hit of that year.In 1974 Atari came out with 'shark jaws', which was the first game with animated animal characters.The start of the video game violence controversy came shortly after the release of 'death race' created by Exidy.In 1978, arcade games found a new home in restaurants and corner stores thanks to Space Invaders .The year 1979 brought us Namco, which created the first true color arcade game, Galaxion.Namco brought us Pac-Man, the best selling game of its time that is still popular to this day.But in 1981, Nintendo created Pac-Man's competition, Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong would later become one of the fist platform games.As the graphics got better, the games became more violent. The first game to get a parental advisory warning was Splatterhouse. Capcom released Street Fighter II in 1991. Its competitor, Mortal Kombat came in 1992. Mortal Kombathad more blood and fatalities than any game before it.In 1998 Konomi released Dance Dance Revolution or DDR for short.
