About Us
Our team is from the Romeo Engineering and Technology Center (RETC), which is part of Romeo High School. Each of our team members is enrolled in the advanced Math and Science program at the RETC. Jessica and Jennifer are seniors, where as Joe, Nathan, Caymen, and Sarah are juniors. It was difficult for us to collaborate on this project because of our schedules. Since the RETC is fifteen minutes away from our main high school, most students only have a few hours at the technology center. Caymen and Sarah attend the RETC in the morning, and worked on the project during Mrs. Morgan's (our team captain) class. The rest of the team met in the afternoon and continued to work where Caymen and Sarah left off. The majority of the project was done in class, but Joe and Nathan worked on the technical aspect of the website for hours at home.
Our team chose to do our project on space junk because it is an unusual problem. When we asked our fellow classmates if they were concerned about space garbage, no one had any idea that garbage was orbiting our planet. We thought that making an informative site that was easy for high school students to understand would be a great way to raise awareness about space debris. Our hope is that people will realize that polluting space has dangerous long-term consequences, and the space junk problem needs to be kept under control.
