A technology that represents music in a digital form, MIDI is the music in the 20th century. But do people accept MIDI? We decided to do a survey on this topic.
We took Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (1st Movement) and recorded down two different versions íV mp3 and MIDI. We took the two different versions and played it for 50 people* and asked two questions. (*50 people, which included people of all sexes, ages, jobs and interests were randomly picked to do this survey through the format of questionnaires.)
A. Which version do you like better?
People who like the MIDI version better : 19 people (38%)
C. The OBSERVATIONS
It is observed there is no relationship between a person's preference and his or her age and sex/ However, a point worth noting is that mostly people who played music like the mp3 version of the Moonlight Sonata better than the MIDI version. They emphasized a lot on the treatment of the melodies.
There is not an exact answer to whether people accept MIDI or not. Person X might like mp3 versions better while Person Y likes MIDI versions better. Everyone has his or her own opinions. Music really depends on one's tastes.
