- Wagging gently: "Hello, I am so happy to see you! How are you?"
- Wagging vigorously: "Do you want to play?"

- Tucked under: "I'm not aggressive; please don't hurt me."
- Wagging fast in a circle: "I am so excited!"

- Pricked forward:
"I am on alert; what is going on there?"

- Relaxed: "All is well."
- Pinned back: "I am afraid."

- Staring into your face: "I am dominant."
