Shamu Shame |
| |
Shamu is the name of SeaWorld's killer whale show. Did you know that the name Shamu is actually a name shared by many killer whales at SeaWorld? These beautiful creatures are captured from their natural environment for the Shamu shows, primarily for human entertainment. The first Shamu to be ever captured was a female; she was captured in Puget Sound in 1965 when she was barely four years old. She was kept in captivity and made to perform until she died in 1971; she was only ten years old. In their natural environment, orcas can live to be about 50 - 80 years old. |
