Tina, a twelve-year-old German Shepherd, was found walking near a busy road in Massachusetts. She was pale, weak, and appeared to be extremely sick. She was brought to the nearest animal shelter.
To the shelter's astonishment, they noticed the dog had a tag with a USDA breeder license number. She had been a breeder dog for a puppy mill and now that she was old and spent they abandoned her. The shelter was able to get money to pay for Vicky's veterinary care. The vet discovered that Vicky was extremely sick. Her uterus was in terrible shape and she had so many issues. They had to perform surgery on her. During the surgery, the vet found numerous tumors and they decided that it was best not to wake her up from surgery. Despite trying their best to save Vicky, they had to lay her to rest.
Think and talk about Vicky's story next time you hear someone talk about buying a puppy. Don't support puppy mills. |
