Meet the Team!

Alexander - Research

alexander

My name is Alexander and I am fourteen years old. I enjoy running, reading about history, and playing in the jazz band at our school. I had fun contributing my ideas and gathering/synthesizing information for our webpage. I have gathered valuable knowledge from doing this project and I plan to participate in the future.

Alvin - Research

My name is Alvin. I go to Dougherty Valley High School and am a freshman in the school year of 2007-2008. I like math and science. Music was put on me when the dream of a string quartet came to my mom. I was assigned as the cello player, and now that is what I play. For this project, I found out a whole new world of physics behind the music notes that I play every day. The ThinkQuest project was a great learning experience.

Vidya - Web Design

I am currently a freshman at Dougherty Valley High School and I am fourteen years old. I play the guitar, produce music of my own and love to tinker with computer parts all the time. I skateboard, play basketball, tennis and i love to play games. This was my first time ever using Dreamweaver or any program like it. I mostly use Photoshop but incorporating flash and Dreamweaver was something new. ThinkQuest International 2008 has been a great learning experience for me

Ryan - Flash Animation

The only sophomore on the team, I am 15 years old and currently attending Dougherty Valley High School. On my spare time I usually can be found playing video games, reading, or editing Wikipedia articles. I also am a violinist in not only my school orchestra but also the San Ramon Youth Symphony. As I had experience with Flash I created a couple of small files that where incorporated into this web site. ThinkQuest was an enjoyable experience for me as I was able to learn a lot about the math in music and gain a bit of knowledge on website creation.

Rosa Lau- Assistant Coach

My name is Rosa Lau, and I had learned about the ThinkQuest competition late in 2007. After consulting with Mr. Duran in January, 2008, we decided to give this project a lift-off. We packed a lot of action in the last three months, and the students learned a lot about collaboration and about the subject. I enjoyed the opportunity to assist in the coaching and guidance of this project, and most of all, to see the growth and achievements that the students have demonstrated throughout this process.

Gregory Duran- Primary Coach

My name is Gregory Duran and I teach math at Dougherty Valley High School. Before becoming a teacher I worked in the high tech field for 17 years. Watching these kids work on this site is why I became a teacher, helping kids get excited about using math in cool and exciting ways. Finally, I want to thank Ms. Rosa Lau for being a great assistant coach.
