Snowboarding is a well known sport which is performed by individuals. It is a combination sport. When you snowboard you use speed, which comes from skiing, the tricks come from skateboarding, and the moves come from surfing. There are five types of snowboarding; freestyle, slalom alpine racing, big-air competition (freestyle competition), timed competition, and free ride.

Freestyle includes spins, grabs, and flips. Freestyle competition is when a snowboarder rides in a wide ditch in the snow which acts as a half pipe. The riders then perform tricks on the “half pipe”.  Timed competition is when the snowboarder rides between poles and gates. In Big-Air competitions, the snowboarders launch themselves off snow covered ramps and perform tricks in the air. In free ride they ride in powder snow or freshly fallen snow, and then hike back up the mountain on foot to do it again.
