If there are bogus crop circles, there can obviously be bogus UFO sightings. A percentage of UFO sightings are indeed deliberate hoaxes. Observers that claim to have witnessed UFOs often exaggerate. Double- exposure photography makes evaluations difficult. One such hoax occurred in November 1952. a man named George Adamski returned from the Colorado Desert, near the town of Desert Center, California. He arrived back with a tale of him meeting a handsome, long-haired alien from Venus. He said that they communicated through sign language and mental telepathy. His photographs of Venetian “scout ships” turned out to actually be models made from chicken feeders and bottles. Another fake UFO controversy was in 1967. Dan and Grant Jaraslaw (teenage brothers from Michigan), took pictures of a Frisbee in their backyard and was recognized as a UFO. In fact, for nine years the photo was accepted as UFO evidence. They eventually confessed. Sources- #1 Book- The Mystery Library: UFOs Author: Patricia D. Netzley Place of Publication: San Diego Publishing Company: Lucent Books, Inc. Copyright Date: 2000
