                                                            Bigfoot

Ewe, what is that smell, and what is that a brown figure in the brush?” “Is that Bigfoot, I hope it is.”   The legends differ, but one thing stays true. Bigfoot is the main focus of many crypto zoologists in North America. It is one of the many mysteries in the countries of The United States and Canada. It will remain a great mystery until scientists and Bigfoot enthusiasts can come up with decent concrete evidence of this hairy, monkey-man.

The shaggy cryptic animal we call Bigfoot is studied by many crypto zoologists, and it is considered an anthropoid. Bigfoot is a hairy biped; it has two feet and two large hands. It has been reported at upwards of 7.5 feet (2.3m). The creature has been spotted with a very undersized neck. The limbs of the Sasquatch or Bigfoot have the same proportions as an ape. It has a flat face and nose. The scalp of this animal is coned-shaped, like the Abominable snowman. It is omnivorous, which means that it eats both meat and plants. The furry beast is a nocturnal creature, and like bats it only comes out at night. The monster is inactive in cold weather, which is weird because some if the sightings have been in mid Canada, and it can be very cold in Canada.

The monster is very devious; and it has never been captured alive or dead. No one has ever captured this monstrous creature. The only evidence that scientists have is footprints, and a few skeptical short clips. The footprints have been reported at 22 inches long and 7 inches wide, or 5.9 centimeters for the length and 17.8 for the width.  Bigfoot lives in the forests of the northwest America to mid and south Canada, there was even reporting’s in eastern Texas. The area has sufficient food and shelter to survive. The forests are home to many river and caves. I believe that this animal has more than enough to survive.

In 1870 a reporter reportedly saw a hairy gorilla man in the brush. The animal was said to have short legs. Some Indian tribes portray this creature of having superman like abilities; it is intelligent and has many powers. Though not realistic it is a very neat story. In 1924 Al Ostman was camping in British Columbia, Canada. He was abducted and taken to a Bigfoot camp by a Bigfoot family, containing an adult male, adult female and two children a male and female. He was stuck in that predicament for a few days, but he finally got away. He gave the family chewing tobacco, which got stuck in their mouths, just long enough to escape. Another incident involving Bigfoot came when a group of miners in Washington, near Mount St. Helens. They were camping in a cabin and were attacked by a group of Bigfoot’s. The miners supposedly shot at one and killed it, but there is no concrete evidence. The spot of the attack was later named Ape Canyon.

One of the most famous Bigfoot conspirators is Roger Patterson, a retired rodeo rider. He is famous for a very sketchy video he recorded of Bigfoot. It was recorded on October 20, 1967. He was in the Pacific Northwest, in Bluff Creek. The area is reported having a lot of Bigfoot activity. The female Bigfoot was drinking from the small stream nearby, when Patterson, 34 and his tracking assistant, Bob Gimlin, 36, caught a glimpse of the animal. They hurriedly grabbed their video camera and still camera, and they snapped some photos. They saw the large creature get up turn toward them, then walk away swinging her arms. They went down after the creature, but she was too fast. They found ten large tracks. The film was taken to scientists later on. The neuromuscular system is different than humans that were depicted by the movie. It was going at about 24 feet per second; it was taking very long stride. A human would have to be taking really long strides and going very fast, to be going at that speed. It is seen to be less than 6 feet tall or 1.8288 meters. The scientists have determined that the footprints are either fake or either the film could be. The scientists think that the film might be genuine, but it is debatable. Patterson died in 1972, just five years after he caught the monster. The motive for the tape could have been the money. A person could receive a lot of money for a recording of a genuine Bigfoot.

The last sighting was on the Walla Walla Ranger District of southeast Washington and Northeast Oregon. The man, who saw the Bigfoot, is Paul Freeman. He spotted the animal, June 10, 1982. He was a park ranger, but eventually left because of all the publicity and difficulty of dealing with it and his job. He was driving on the service roads and saw a herd of elk, and decided to park the car and follow on foot. He was chasing them for about a quarter of a mile, when he turned the corner and saw a giant Bigfoot. He estimates that the being was about 8.5 feet or 2.590 meters tall. They looked at each other from about 150 to 200 feet or 45.7 to 61 meters for a few seconds. He ran back to the car and called his superiors. They hurried over and they all searched for the footprints, they found 21 footprints and they were all 14x7 inches or 36x18 centimeters. On June 14th, Walla Walla station released information on the occurrence. On June 16th Freeman and Bill Epoch found 40 new tracks by the Mill Creek watershed. Joel Hardin, a border patrol agent and Bigfoot researcher said that the tracks were hoaxes, because the tracks had dermal ridges (fingerprints). Only monkey’s, apes, and humans are the only animals to have finger prints. In July Freeman left his position in the state park service, because of the stress and publicity. Weeks later Grover Krantz said that the tracks were made by two people. The hoaxer would have to go through a lot of muck and swamps, with a mold on its feet. It is very unstable and hard to walk through all that various terrain.
