Atmospheric organisms are life forms that live in the upper atmosphere. For a short time period, it was a very popular theory. People thought that these organisms would eat people and attack ships. One example of this in the 1960’s series “The Twilight Zone.” In one episode, “The Monster at 20,000 feet,” an ape-like organism that was in the atmosphere sitting on the wing of a 747, was harassing a man. The man stole the gun from an air marshal and shot the beast because it was meddling with one of the engines. Though it seemed like a good idea, the theory did not last long. There were some sightings. Most of these sightings involve gelatinous blobs. In 1950, two Philadelphia policemen spotted a UFO. They saw it touch down on earth. The object was a gelatinous blob. The police men claimed it evaporated within a half hour. Other incidents similar to that was in 1979. A woman was at home when she saw something in her back yard. She found three pink and purple gelatinous blobs. She put the blobs into jars and had them tested. The material was found to be industrial waste. It was fairly obvious that it couldn’t have been industrial waste. The two materials looked nothing alike. This theory is highly unlikely, but where there is a myth, there are people who believe it.
