Tartarus

After getting past some giants with at least a hundred arms, Ember brings you to a large, gloomy pit surrounded by a wall of bronze. “Sorry about the Hecatoncheires,” apologized Ember, “They were those giants, they guard this place…” You wouldn’t have been able to see it, though, if Ember hadn’t given you a torch beforehand; it is pitch black in here!

“According to Greek mythology, Tartarus is the lowest region of the world, far below the earth, and serves as an eternal prison. You can see that a wall of bronze surrounds it, and is hidden beyond a layer of night. In earlier myths, it serves as a prison for some of the Titans and the monster Typhus. In later myths, it also imprisoned sinners, judged by Rhadymanthus, the brother of King Minos.”
