Destination: New York, New York

Place of interest: Westin Hotel

Full of crazy colors and symbolic meanings, our next stop is to the Westin Hotel! Located in Times Square, New York, this 45 story building fuses earth and sky in a unique yet classy way.

Sheathed with vertical striped glass, the Sky portion of the hotel is truly beautiful. The panels are painted steel blue and pale purple. The Earth side has horizontal stripes of bronze and copper. Splitting the two sides is a 355 foot gleaming light. It shoots from the bottom of the building and straight into the sky (the one above our heads, not the part of the building). The shaft sits on a chunky base full of colorful abstract designs.

Once you walk into the glass reception area, you’ll get a taste of the unique textiles and murals that embellish the hotel. Your room will be furnished with materials that are so immensely luxurious, you’ll feel like royalty. To add to the grand scheme of the hotel, there are three ballrooms, a pastry shop, café, spa, fitness center, and multiple bars. There is also an E Walk which is a huge complex with a blues nightclub, movie theater, restaurants, and stores.

Everything sounds great! My first stop is going to be the pastry shop. Who doesn’t love cookies?!
