The soccer ball design

The golden ratio which began with Euclid's comment in “Elements” about a point divides a line into

an “extreme and mean ratio”. Later intellectuals began studding the ratio and found it in many other things, which include the ratio of the successive Fibonacci numbers approaching the golden ratio. When we look at geometry the golden ratio normally appears pentagrams, pentagon etc. This ratio appears when the vortices's of a five sided pentagon are connected in a way that they show a star, the ratio appears in the various segments of the star. The ratio also appears in chemistry in the Buckminsterfullerene which is also known as the “buckyball” molecule. This molecule is composed of carbon atoms bonded together to form the traditional soccer ball arrangement and the coordinates system has the golden ratio. Pretty cool, huh!
