Oscar I am the team leader for the website. I repaired technical difficulties on the web pages, was responsible for the photo editing, did the El Paso Redevelopment Plan section, and made revisions to the final text. I created the questionnaire for the video clip, conducted the interview that was videotaped by Chris, and was in charge of converting the video clip to PC format. This was difficult. I do not have a video camera of my own and had to borrow one. I had to learn how to use the appropriate program to edit the videos. My family came to El Paso from Ciudad Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico. At the beginning, we had to live with family members who lived in the downtown El Paso area that is now being considered for redevelopment through eminent domain. I have a personal interest in how this issue is resolved because it affects my immediate family and it is my ambition to attend university and pursue a career in architecture. |
Lupe My name is Guadalupe and I attend El Paso High. The most difficult aspect of this project for me was collaborating with two male students. I am normally very self-conscious, extremely shy and it is hard for me to make friends and work with other people. Having worked on this project, taught me to overcome my fears and improve my communication skills. For the website, I was in charge of researching the topic. Researching was hard to do because a great deal of the information was local and not available on the internet. I never gave up because I believe that quitting never leads to success. Working on this project developed my self-esteem, taught me responsibility and organization; as well as how to trust my teammates and be honest with all those around me.

Chris I attend Jefferson High School and it is at the edge of the downtown area identified for redevelopment. I have many friends and family members that live in the eminent domain area. They are going to have to move out; leaving memories, friends and family behind. Knowing the conditions that they currently live in, however, and what they have had to endure in this low-income area, I believe that the downtown redevelopment plan will be beneficial. I now live far from downtown, but I believe that this will also benefit me in the near future. Having seen the redevelopment of downtown San Antonio and Austin, makes me want to see these improvements in El Paso some day. I believe that El Paso can become the center of entertainment, business and tourism for the entire region.
