Flamenco

It can be sung, played, and danced. Flamenco! Dating back to1750 flamenco is not a very old dance, unlike ballet, but anyway flamenco is here to stay. With many forms of flamenco varying from sad and serious to light and happy! Flamenco is accompanied by rapid guitar and dramatic singing!

Each gender must dance flamenco a certain way.

Men- Stand rigid and straight with their back ever so slightly arched. They will also click their fingers and clap their hands very rapidly. The males’ feet will move quickly.

Women- Arch their back and keep their head straight. The women’s arms are raised and they move their wrists in a circular motion while taping their feet.

Flamenco is Spain’s most dramatic and flamboyant dance from a Spanish and Arab mixture. Many people predict flamenco will be the new it dance!
