Try putting yourself in their shoes:
~Your father, Dominik Petersen, was born in Berlin, then moved out into the country. He told you that it was a huge shock to move from a city of more than 3 million to a small city of only a few hundred.
~One in three people you see in the grocery store belong to the Roman Catholic Church. The next person out of the three should be (statistically speaking) a protestant. The last one out of three could be any one of the minor religions.
~Nine out of every 100 people are out of work. That's almost one in ten.
~The work force is made up of 43.63 million people. That's more than half of your country.
~You have a little sister who is getting ready for her first year of school. She will have to attend it for ten years, just like the rest of the population.
~You live in a small town in the mountains. Your father's family still lives in Berlin. When you were a toddler, your family took a trip to go see them. The people in the cities, you found out have a totally different life. There is a huge contrast between the crowded city and the mountainous, free life you have. |
