If the pet is not showing any additional signs of sickness, a vet should still be seen in order to make sure the pet has not been harmed. If a vet is not available and there is a suspicion that the pet is poisoned, give it fresh water and lay it down. The number for the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center is (888) 426-4435. They charge a small fee for consultation but offer helpful advice.
If someone has a recalled bag of pet food, he or she can usually take it back to the pet store for full or partial refund. If it was opened or if it was consumed by any pets, take the pets to the vet for further examination or call the local vet for further advice.
