In 1953, the Sleepwear Act was passed. The Sleepwear Act made it illegal to sell clothing that was not flame retardant. In 1999, the U.S. Congress became less strict with that rule and made it so that merchants could sell sleepwear that did not meet standards. Now, they have changed this again and passed a law saying that manufacturers are supposed to sell flame retardant clothing. To ensure that the clothing a person purchases is safe, he should make sure it is flame retardant.
