Our team consists of three 8th grade girls and three 7th grade boys. Of the team, only 2 of the 8th grade girls, co-captains Sarah and Kate, had any experience with creating websites and being a part of a team. Alyssa, the other 8th grader, quickly caught on and did everything asked of her and more. In the beginning the team worked together by dividing up all of the work evenly. Each team member had to complete pages on 3 or 4 diseases/epidemics. This came to about 6 to 8 pages on the website for each team member. The captains, Sarah and Kate, then checked over the written work of each of the other team members, made suggestions for improvements, and followed up on the progress of the team. These girls worked very closely on this part of the website to ensure that each disease and each page was researched thoroughly. This took up much of their class time so they had to write and work on their own pages at home. Because he quickly completed his research and writing, Drew completed the drop down and the bottom menus for the site. The other members of the team focused on completing sections of the website such as the bibliography, glossary, and the site map. Each team member did their fair share of the work on the entire site.

We learned that one person could not do the website all by himself. It took all of us working very hard each day to create the website that we have produced. We learned teamwork and cooperation is just as important as writing in successfully making a website.
During the year, we discovered that Kate and Sarah were excellent at organizing and supervising others as well as writing pages. Alyssa proved to be an invaluable writer and was willing to do anything needed for the team. Drew proved himself good at technological aspects of creating a website even though he had never done this type of work before. Bryce and Austin followed directions well and did what was asked of them by the captains.
