The best way to prevent typhus fever is to stay away from the animals, insects, and the bacteria that cause the fever. Some of these animals and insects include rats, mice, and lice. Another way to prevent typhus fever is to practice good hygiene. Washing hands before eating and after using the restroom is mandatory. Immediate removal of ticks and the use of insect repellent to prevent tick bites are also suggested. Disinfecting all clothes and personal items of a person who has lice is the best way to prevent it from spreading.
