Mercury in Fish Who can the mercury, hurt the most? Which fish has the most amount of mercury? Which fish has the least amount of mercury?
Mercury in our seafood is when the fish consume higher levels of mercury that are in the water. Mercury can come from many places such as the air. The mercury in our air come's for the fossil fuels that come out of our cars. It then falls back to earth, landing in our river, lakes and oceans. Which then our fish eat. Mercury is a metal, which can be made-up out of very toxic chemicals. It can occur naturel, but now most of the merucury come from from us. All of the fossil fuels that we use, that come out of out of most of our cars. Eating to much mercury can be very harmful. If you are eating at every lower it can be harmful. It can hurt the liver, kidney, brain, blood and it can also hurt the nervous system. But on higher levels of mercury it can cause cause kidney failure, cardiovascular disease, and genetic damage. (Cardiovascular disease is a disease that affects the heart and our blood vessels. It is the number one killer of all men and women.) Who can the mercury, hurt the most? Mercury on our fish is most dangerous to women who are pregnant, or planning to become pregnant. It is also very hurtful to little children who are eating the higher levels of mercury. Which fish has the most amount of Mercury? Any fish that is higher on the food chain is most harmful. This is because they are eating the smaller fish, that already have some mercury. So when they eating the fish, they are also eating the mercury in them. So if all possible stay away from fish such as: Swordfish, Shark, King Mackerel, or Tilefish. Those have the highest levels of mercury. Which fish has the least amount of Mercury? Any fish that is lower on the food chain has lower amount of mercury on them. So any fish like Catfish, Salmon, Pollock, or Shrimp. For everyone that loves seafood, you have most likely heard about mercury in our seafood. It is a growing concerned that we are getting to much mercury out of our fish. Mercury in our seafood happens when the fish consume or eat higher levels of mercury. This is because the the fish that are higher on the food chain eat more fish. If the fish that they are eating contain levels of mercury in them, the fish that is eating that, we be consuming all of that mercury. So if all possible, stay away from: Shark, King Mackerel, or Tilefish. They have the highest levels of mercury. While fish like: Salmon, Pollock, or Catfish, have the least amount of mercury.
