Here are some pieces of advice about how to make reading more attractive for children:
First of all,children should be taught at home that reading is a pleasure. Their parents should put them in touch with books. They could bring them to the library and present them funny and attractive books,appropriate for their age. IT IS THEIR CHOICE! Enforcing certain books to a child is not a solution. Of course, parents should make reading suggestions, but they should always leave the decision to their children.
Reading should become a group activity. Parents should read to their children every day,or at least dedicate a hour to group reading. In this way children get to see and realise that reading is a very relaxing and pleasant activity.
Secondly, children should read different genres of books. Through reading different books he gets the opportunity to create his own style, and will choose those books which he enjoys reading the most.
Furthermore, they should see the adaptation of those books and decide whether the movie is better than the book or not.
As a teenager, he may start to perceive reading as something "uncool", or maybe being compelled by his teachers to read certain books would make him cease reading. In my opinion, the school curriculum
should include a subject of universal literature. DIVERSITY is the key.
