To read or not to read,this is the question...But it seems that more and more people nowadays don't bother reading,they don't even try it.Because once you've tasted the pleasure of reading you simply can't stop.But why don't people read anymore???
Firstly people ceased reading beacause of the developement of the television and internet,which have become responsible for the lack of culture of the people,especially teenagers, nowadays.For example:ask the first teenager you meet whether he/she prefers reading to internet,and you'll be amazed of their answers.Whether they find books boring or a pure waste of time,or they have become internet addicted,one thing is certain:books are not the favourite any more.
On the other hand,a comparison with, let's say the 18th century,when people used to read a lot would not be correct,because of the possibilities of entertainment from those times.We must take into consideration that another factor which led to the decline of books is the variety of entertainment methods we benefit of in our days:starting with sports,music or acting and ending with television and the well-known internet.While in those times other interesting activities besides reading and walking were quite rare and some of them even unaproachable.
Secondly,many booklovers stopped reading because the loaded everyday programme doesn't leave them any time for this.And to be perfectly frank,none would prefer reading of the end of the day,when their eyes are tired and more than often have a terrible headache,while their confortable sofa in front of the TV is calling their names.
Furthermore, many young children usually dislike books because they have been thaught that reading was an obligation.Let's addmit it:nobody likes being obliged to do something.Moreover,the books they have to read and study at school are more than boring,they are extremely tedious.And the poor children get the impression that if one thing is bad,all has to be exactly the same.
The pleasure for books stems from your hobbies,your preferences and tastes concerning literature.It's more than natural that you will find interesting the books related to your tastes.This is how you develop your love for books.If you don't vary,if you don't experiment more, you will never have a clear vision about your favourite things in life.
To sum up,books are beginning to lose more and more teritory in our entertainement options,due to the world in which we live.:)l
