"Approximately 4% of the United States population uses physical self-injury as a way of dealing with overwhelming feelings or situations, often using it to speak when no words will come." It is something that cannot be taken lightly. Teens who self harm are not exactly suicidal but they use it as a way to cope with stress and other things tied to depression. Self-harm is worse than any other harm because it can never go away. The scars will never heal and they will mock you forever.

Teens may have certain thoughts before they self abuse and they are usually extremely negative. It's strange really. When you cut, you keep telling yourself, "just a little more and I'll be okay", or, "Theres nothing else I can do, this is the only way". Afterwards you would be full of shame and thats the cycle. |
