They should only be used by the person it is prescribed for, due to the fact that it can harm organs and other parts of the body. They are usualy more powerful than over the counter medicine. A cause for receiving prescription drugs is usually to prevent illnesses that you have already suffered from. Sometimes over the counter medicine is also sold as a prescription medicine in larger doses. Such as ibuprofen. It's available in larger doses as a prescription medicine. This is used to prevent overdoses.
