Collaboration

Dong Hyun Lee

My team collaborated in many ways. The first thing we had to do when we started on this project was to think of a topic. All of us had to think of a topic that is closely related to us. We then shared our ideas with each other. As all of us like sports and we feel that sports events bring people together, we chose to work on the area of sports.

As everyone from the team comes from different parts of the world, we communicate in English, using a polite voice, throughout the course of the project. We gave each other ideas on the sports each of us is focusing on. On top of that, we shared our knowledge on webpage editing with each other. When there were disagreements, we did not argue with each other. Instead, we had open discussions and brain-stormed for a solution. We also shared our ideas on the team¡¯s discussion page on think.com.

I was involved in looking up information and creating the webpage for soccer and Tae Kwon Do. I was also involved in putting together the information on our team onto the webpage.

I had difficulty when I was looking up soccer information. There were too much information about soccer and I did not know which part is important. I had that problem fixed by the help from all my group members.

Clara

I contributed to this team by doing on write-ups about the history of two sports. They are volleyball and baseball. I made use of Paint to draw the picture of our faces for the index page too.

There was no doubt that there were some disagreements while doing this project. However, everyone in the team understands the importance of tolerance and acceptance. When different people have different opinions, we will discuss the problem with each other. We are very patient towards each other. For example, each of us had to choose two sports and some of us wanted the same sport. There was some give and take involved in the process. We helped each other throughout these months by helping each other to look for information and give other people ideas.

The greatest problem we faced was none of us had any knowledge on Microsoft Frontpage or any web design software. In order to solve this problem, we borrowed a guidebook on Microsoft Frontpage from the library and refer to it whenever we wanted to find out more about web designing. We also share our knowledge with each other when we found out something new about Microsoft Frontpage.

I like working with my team members as we share our knowledge with each other and help out our team members when we need help.

Sok Boon

Hi, my name is Sok Boon. My group members and I work very well on our project. We wrote on the origins of sports like when the sport was created, who created it and how the idea of the sport came about. I enjoy using Microsoft Frontpage to work on the webpage. However, it was difficult to design the background because there are lots of different picture of our statement so we chose the cutest and the nicest picture for our background.

There were difficult times when we were working on the project too. Halfway through the project, a member wanted to quit Think Quest because of other commitments. However, we persuaded him to stay. When he saw how hard the team worked and how we unite working towards the goal of the project, he was touched by it and he stayed.

We meet during part of our lunch hour to finish our sport project. On top of that, we spend time at home, searching for relevant information and upload them onto Think Quest discussion page. Other team members will then comment on our ideas. We also have a teacher to guide us along the way, making sure that we are working towards the right direction. We also helped to read our friend¡¯s work.

I wrote on the origins of Badminton and Floorball. In addition, I made use of Paint to draw the images of these two sports too.

After reading our webpage about history of sport, we hope that you will know more history about different sports.

Caleb

My team collaborated very well. We collaborated by helping other people and by working hard. At the same time, we try to have fun too. Communication was not a problem with our group. We did not shout at each other. Instead, we listened to other people¡¯s opinions. When discussion was taking place, we did not interrupt the person who is speaking. We also do not criticize on other people¡¯s ideas. Instead, we share our ideas politely.

I contributed by writing on two sports - skateboarding and table tennis. Although it was tough, I still tried my best. As Clara and I are slightly better than the rest in Microsoft programs, both of us are in charge of the creation of the index page.

We, of course, faced tough problems. Sometimes, we are not able to finish our task in time. Sometimes, we could not find the suitable information we wanted. To solve the problems, we asked for help from other team members. They are always more than willing to help. I think our group work very well.

Jason

I collaborated with my group, Smart sports, by creating the webpage on two sports - tennis and cycling. I was also in charge of drawing the icon for the link to our homepage.

At first, we had many ideas on what our topic could be about. Then we had a vote and decided on sports. Some of our problems were quite difficult to handle, for example, looking up information on the Internet and choose the most relevant information to be used in our website. We also had to write our articles, bearing in mind children as young as Grade 1 and 2 are our target audiences. As Microsoft FrontPage was new too me, I had to use the techniques I know from other Microsoft Office programs to help me in the creation of the website. At first, I had trouble with getting the text in the right position. However, with the help of other team members and my knowledge of other Microsoft programs, I started to get the hang of things in Microsoft FrontPage.

The best part of being in the team was cooperating with other team members and creating the website. The time had gone by very fast since I was in ThinkQuest. My team members are very tolerate and helpful towards each other. I will treasure the times we spent working together. The website making process was fun because I know my way around Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel. I also learnt that making use of Microsoft FrontPage to create a website was interesting.

I also feel lucky that I got this opportunity to be part of ThinkQuest because I know that a lot of other kids in our school would have liked to take part in Think Quest to compete against the whole world.

Liam

I collaborated with my team by doing my part and helping my team mates. I wrote about fishing on our website.

As we are from different nationalities, there are times when we do not agree with each other, but all these problems are solved along the way as we understand more of each other. We cooperated well and helped each other along the way. For example, when Dong Hyun said that he has too much information on soccer, I helped him look out for the important facts on history of soccer. In this way, he does not need to spend a lot of time reading through the information again and again.
