Reading FC Team Biography

Founded: 1871

Nickname: The Royals

Pitch: Madejski Stadium

Capacity: 24, 161

Sponsor: Kyocera

On Christmas Day, 1871, Reading Football Club was established. Not turning professional until 1894, however, they won Division 3 of the Football league in 1926. The Royals made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup a year later, where they eventually lost to the future champions, Cardiff City.

The following decades came without success. On the other hand, in 1979, Reading didn't’t concede a goal in 1, 103 minutes, aiming them back on target. After Roger Smee became chairman, the Royals continued their success in the Football League. Their situation got even more superb when John Madejski to the helm of the club, leading the team on their way to the top.
